The Fembots are an all-girls robotics team from St. Francis High School in Sacramento, CA. The team was founded in 2000 by Mr. Glasser, a physics teacher who encouraged The Fembots to participate in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition. Their mission is to nurture young women’s curiosity of science and technology, develop new and lifelong skills, create lasting friendships, have fun, and inspire others in their surrounding community and around the world to do the same.

While in High School, Katrina was one of the young women who dedicated their time to The Fembots. During her time on the team, she held a number of roles and assisted with multiple projects, including the website and social media management. For her freshmen and sophomore years, the website utilized was one built by a past member. By her Junior year, another Fembot, Reanna, and Katrina worked on implementing a brand new website that was more up-to-date and added a bit more information about the current team. That year was also the first year that the team actually utilized their social media platforms to reach more audiences. Her Senior year, Katrina was promoted to Co-Captain and helped other members understand how to best utilize their online presence to expand their team’s mission.
